Verruca Treatment
Many people get verruca, or several verrucae on their feet, and although they can be painful and persistent, we can treat them effectively in our friendly chiropody clinics.
What is a verruca?
A verruca is a type of wart people often get on their feet. It’s caused by a virus called the human papillomavirus or HPV for short and can be quite stubborn without effective treatment. Without treatment they can easily spread to other people or other areas of your skin, forming large clusters of verrucae.
You might notice them as a rough surface or small black spots which are tiny blood vessels. They can become very tender or painful or to walk on if untreated.

What to expect during my visit?
After a consultation with our professional, friendly footcare specialist we will asses the area and discuss your treatment options, guiding you through the best verruca treatment options to find the one that’s best for you.
Verruca treatments include:
• Verruca needling – One of the most effective verruca treatments. Verrucae will normally clear up after just one treatment performed under local anaesthetic. Tiny punctures stimulate the immune system to attack the virus with a minimal amount of discomfort during and after the treatment.
• Cryotherapy – Cryotherapy for verrucae is a popular treatment that freezes the verruca and allows your body to completely remove the wart in usually between 1 and 3 treatments performed over a few weeks.
• Acid therapy – We can apply a strong salicylic acid solution to the verruca to soften the hard skin triggering an immune response from your body. After repeating this process several times, even stubborn verrucae can be effectively removed.
• Another way to stimulate your bodies immune response to remove verrucae is to use medical lasers. Our purpose made verruca laser targets the wart and causes your body to break it down without even breaking the skin’s surface. This non-invasive treatment is comfortable and benefits from fast healing with less risk of infections.
