Nail surgery is an effective treatment for persistent or recurring ingrown toenails. It is typically
recommended when conservative treatment has not resolved the problem.
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic to ensure the toe is fully numb.
The affected part of the nail is removed, and a chemical may be applied to prevent the problem
from returning.
The procedure usually takes around 45-60 minutes.
The toe will take several weeks to heal.
It is normal to experience some discharge during healing, and aftercare advice will be provided.
Most patients are able to return to normal activities relatively quickly.
